I'm sure everyone is aware of the games this weekend, but since it has been a while since we've actually had a league game, I thought I'd send a reminder.

 

The schedule isn't ideal:  10:30 and 3:00  (be there around 9:30 for warm-up), but the field locations are good.  These are the NECSA fields just off of I-20 & Clemson Rd near Spring Valley Church.

Can-Am Cup information

The YMCA Can-Am Cup website can be found at: http://www.gsfymca.org/gsfymca_021.htm

 

The schedules still say tentative, but ours hasn't changed in over a week. Hopefully it is the final schedule. Our fields are on the Airbase and are listed as AFB and #10.  The Y tells me that both fields are at the corner of Myers and Farrow.  #10 is supposed to be the full-size field.  So it looks like the games will NOT be at Swallow.

Charlotte SC Adidas Invitational

We've been accepted to the Adidas Invitational Feb 3-4, 2007. (Super Bowl weekend, oops!)   Looks like 16 teams in the U13 boys group.

The U13 games are at the Ramblewood Soccer complex which is near I-77 and I-485.

  Directions:
Take 77 to exit 3 Arrowood Rd. Turn EAST and go 8/10 of a mile and merge RIGHT onto W. Hebron St. Take W. Hebron about 1/2 mile to the light at Nations Ford Rd. Turn RIGHT onto Nations Ford Rd. When the road splits stay to the RIGHT and the park will be about 7/10 of a mile on your RIGHT.

Mary Beth got a special rate and block of rooms at the Drury Inn. (This is the same chain we stayed at in Greensboro.)

Two double beds, non-smoking room,  $66 for up to four people.  (Smoking is available.)

Beginning this Tuesday [Jan 16], we'll go back to the normal two-hour practices.

LNSC tournament article; State rankings

Jason has uploaded the article about our Lake Norman tournament win to the Coast FA website. Just go to: Coast FA News and see the Nov 19th article.  Also, the Oct 29 article about our Mt. Pleasant Showcase win is there as well.

 

Some more good news. The National Soccer Rankings group has picked up our team, and they've now got us ranked #4 among the SC Boys U-13 teams. You can see the rankings at South Carolina U13  (http://www.nationalsoccerranking.com/south_carolina1.htm)  Cracking the Region III rankings will be a little tougher.  The Bridge is ranked #1 in SC, and #35 out of 40 in Region III.  U13 Boys National and Regional rankings

Post season practice information

We will plan on holding practice tomorrow, Tuesday Nov 21. (However, the forecast is calling for 76% chance of rain with accumulation of up to 2" over the next 24 hours.) No practice on Thursday.

We will continue the two-hour practices on Tuesday and Thursday for the next few weeks. The last practice will be Tuesday, December 19. We will then have a three-week break and resume practice on Tuesday, January 9.

Ross will try to incorporate some 3v3 games over the next few weeks.

Also, Ross is looking for some scrimmage games for some of the girls teams this Saturday, Nov 25. I don't have details on time, location, or teams, but if you are available, please let me know. I'll try to get more details.

Tournament success

I have submitted an article for the Coast FA web page on our results from the CASL and Lake Norman tournaments. Keep checking at Coast FA News for the final article and picture.

Also, I have submitted an article and team picture to the Sun News for the Neighbors section on our last three tournaments (Mt. Pleasant, CASL, and Lake Norman.) Keep an eye out for this. Once you see it published, please try to spread the word so everyone can be sure to buy a copy that day.
